This is a FANTASTIC way to find your color so you can organize your closet according to MOOD! Your closet will thank you for answering…
I’m a tried-and-true blue.
As if it were tattooed on my being before birth, I’ve always gravitated toward blue, in all of its wondrous and mystical hues. (Do you know how many pairs of jeans I own? A lot.)
So if you’re reading this, it’s safe to say that there is a color by which you, too, are absolutely smitten. But do you know what that says about you? And, does your wardrobe reflect the real you?
Let’s pretend we’re back in school for a minute and learn about color. (Speaking of school, I should warn you there will be a quiz at the end of this story but I promise it will be fun and NOT graded.) Color is the result of wavelengths absorbed by and reflecting off of objects. It’s the light that bounces off of things that we see and recognize as red, pink, etc. So without light, color does not exist. (So, I’m now wondering -- is a red rose still red at night? Ponder that one with me.)
Sunlight contains all color, which is otherwise called white light. So, white objects are those that reflect all light and absorb none. Black, of course, would mean that an object reflects no light and absorbs all. And all other colors fall somewhere in the middle of this glorious spectrum.
So where are you within this palette? Let’s discover the rainbow:
Red is a fiery, passionate, strong, full-speed ahead kind of color. (And it’s for this reason that I have never owned a red car...) People who gravitate toward red are often seen as aggressive, loving, ambitious and thrill-seeking.
Orange is a warm, nurturing, life-enriching color. Orange lovers are perceived as cautious, kind, encouraging, and meticulous. And if you can wear it well? Extra blessed.
Yellow just makes me want to smile. I guess there was good reason why it became the color of our official forever-smiley-face. People who love yellow tend to be optimistic, energetic, and sometimes anxious. (But not you, don’t worry.) Fun fact: yellow is the color most visible to humans.
Green...ah. Just look at it. It is life, breath, nature, all wrapped up in one. Green people are full of life, peaceful, respectful, appreciative of nature, and sometimes envious (but aren’t we all, really?).
Blue is my personal favorite, painted over us each day in whispers of faint turquoise and transitioning to a deep inky hue come nightfall. It’s a calming and tranquil color. People who love blue are characterized by their trustworthiness, steadfastness, serenity and tendency to become bored easily.
Violet is a color heralded by royalty, and for good reason. This color represents intuition, compassion and wisdom. Violet lovers are often creative, sensitive, mysterious and sometimes aloof.
